Our Story
On a Sunday, in the fall of 2022, a few friends were sitting on a beach enjoying some beers when they began to wonder where they should go out to that night. In search of a good time, they wished there was a way to look up a few different locations and see how many people were planning on going to each that night.

This concept combined with the constant frustration of dating culture created by traditional dating apps led to the creation of Turp. With Turp, users can find other singles going to the same bars, events, workout classes, etc as them. This allows people to connect in person, eliminate the potential of catfishing, and maybe even give someone the extra push they need to talk to that attractive person they see across the room.
Mission
Our mission is to change dating culture for the better. We believe that traditional dating apps foster a dating culture that leads to regular ghosting, lack of effort, and potential awkward meet-ups.

How is Turp Different?
Traditional dating apps revolve around a profile which has many issues such as people swiping, but never actually meeting, people posting outdated or deceiving picture, and lack of genuine human connection.

Turp makes the profile a component of the dating experience, but not the nucleus. Everyone gets one profile picture to give others a sense of what they look like, but the main focus is around meeting in person in a public environment. This reduces the hassle of going somewhere solely to meet someone who may not even look like their pictures or who has a personality that doesn't mesh with yours. When we meet people in person, we are able to get a better gauge of attraction and connection. Turp also connects people in the flow of their social lives, so it is people that you would be crossing paths with anyways, but creates a soft introduction. It keeps the pressure low and the environment light and fun.
